CRM 2011 to Lync Integration – Part 1

Zhen Yuwang, 02 February 2012

Unlike Windows Live Messenger, the new generation instant messaging software Lync 2010 are enterprise oriented. It is just released at the beginning of this year. So is Dynamic CRM 2011. Hence, the specific solution likes Dynamic CRM 2011 - Lync 2010 integration will be scarce.

These days I am working on a new project that could listen to Lync 2010, catch the events, communication with Dynamic CRM 2011 and finally pop-up related record windows. It should work both in outbound and inbound call.

CRM 2011 to Lync Integration

Briefly speaking, our add-on will pop a CRM record based on the caller ID of the outbound and inbound call.

• It could login to Lync 2010 automatically.
• It could connect to assign Dynamic CRM 2011.
• There is a setting page for Credential, domain or other login details.
• There are personal options for user. Like which type of record should pop up: phone call activity, contact, account or anything else; should we use mobile or mainland phone number.
• Some fields of pop up window should be filled automatically, like sender, recipient, phone number and regarding.

With this project, every time before we make or receive a phone call for Lync 2010, we could be familiar with the opposite side in advanced; we could know the details and information about current participant and conversation; we also could write down some essential notes into CRM record about this conversation.

All of these make our communication and work easy. I would explain more with the progress of this integration project.
