CRM 2011 – How to Upgrade Activity Feeds

Roshan Mehta, 27 February 2013

Activity Feeds is a collaborative tool which sits inside CRM and allows real time notifications among employees regarding various records. The new features are available for both CRM Online and CRM On-Premise customers, and in this blog we will see how we can upgrade Activity Feeds to the latest version.

If you are an existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online customer, your organisation would have automatically been updated to the latest version of CRM (Polaris). During the update, the Activity Feeds solution would have automatically been updated to version 1.03.21121. You can take advantage of all the new available features without having to reinstall the Activity Feeds solution.

New Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online customers will have the Polaris version by default which does not contain a separate solution for the new Activity Feeds. The new version is now built in to the base CRM application.

Finally, for on-premise customers that already have Activity Feeds installed, your Activity Feeds solution will automatically get upgraded to the latest version once you install update rollup 12 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. If you are already on rollup 12 and don’t have Activity Feeds installed, you can download the solution from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Marketplace.

In my next post, we will take a look at the configuration of the new Activity Feeds in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
