Features of Polaris in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Polaris release has brought so many useful features to the users of Dynamics CRM.  In this blog post I will give you an overview of the new features.

Multiple browser support

Polaris update has provided us the functionality of multiple browser support. Now you can open CRM 2011 Online on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari.

New Social dashboard

It has a new social dashboard from which you can keep a track of your organisation’s social activities such as Activity feeds and Yammer updates.

Skype integration

It is integrated with Skype. All the default telephone fields become clickable if Skype is installed.

Yammer integration

Now you can integrate Yammer with your Dynamics CRM 2011 and get all the social activities from Yammer within your CRM. 

A redesigned user experience

It has new UI of forms for 5 entities: Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities and Cases. 

Bing map integration: 

It has default, out of the box Bing map integration. You can simply tab through the fields to fill in the details.

There are some new tabs on forms for Posts, Activities and Notes. You can quickly add a Post, an Activity and Notes by clicking on these tabs so no more Pop-up.

If somebody in your organisation does not like the new UI they can choose to switch to classic forms. Also, now you can view posts regarding any record not just the ones you are following by using the new activity feeds.
