The Sales section in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 has everything from Leads, Opportunities to Invoices. In this area you can manage your leads and customers. In this and following blog posts I will write about the sales process in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.

Sales Process starts with a lead which is followed by the conversion of a lead to a Contact, an Account or an Opportunity. Leads are potential customers. To create a lead, navigate to Sales > Click on Leads and Click on New. Enter all the required details such as Topic, First Name, Last Name, Company Name, Lead Source etc.

You can qualify or disqualify a lead. To qualify a lead Click on Qualify button on the ribbon menu and select the record type which can be a contact, an account and an opportunity.

When you convert a lead to an account, a contact or an opportunity it will copy all the required details to their records automatically you do not need to enter the details again. If you want to disqualify a lead you can select the radio button to disqualify the lead and select a status from the dropdown menu. Once a lead is converted the status reason will change to Qualified or Disqualified.

The disqualified lead record will always remain in your Closed Leads view as an inactive lead. You cannot edit a record of inactive lead but you can reactivate a lead by simply click on Reactivate lead button on ribbon menu and it will reactivate the lead and now you will be able to qualify or disqualify this lead.

In my next blog post I will write about opportunity and how you can add products to an opportunity. So stay tuned!
