Not real dollars but close enough with Dynamics CRM 2011 custom activities! I must say I'm liking these solution packages, it makes it so much easier to bundle and deploy custom add-ons.

 

In Dynamics CRM 2011, when you create a new entity you have the option of making it a custom activity, this custom activity inherits the normal behavior of other activities like To, From, Cc, Bcc, Regarding, Start, End...etc.Iit also shows up under History/Activities as well as the main Activities grid.

 

This add-on allows you to create a SMS activity record, fill in who it's going to (can be multiple contacts, accounts, users or a combination...) and a message, select 'Send Now' then Save the record. A plugin watches for the event and fires off a SMS.

 

We allow you to define multiple providers; the system is based on the Outlook Messaging Service, which means you can select any provider from around the world!

SDK changes I've noticed while porting this from Dynamics CRM 4.0 to Dynamics CRM 2011:

• FetchXml response is slightly different on queries that link multiple entities
• Plugin step filtering attributes doesn't have the 100 character limit
• Sandboxing - no File IO, Registry Access, Reflection (partial), LINQ
• Post synchronous plugin; if an exception is thrown the transaction is rolled back
