CRM 2013 – Error with Access Team Templates after Deployment

Ahmed Anwar, 27 January 2015

Access Teams in Dynamics CRM 2013 allow you to assign records to multiple users through the use of a sub-grid which references an Access Team Template. When deploying a solution which contains this sub-grid from one CRM environment into another, you may have come across the following error.

CRM 2013 – Error with Access Team Templates after Deployment

The Requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it.

The reason this error occurs is because Access Team Templates are not “solution aware”. In other words, when you deploy the solution, the sub-grid appears in the target CRM system but the Access Team Template is not packaged with it. Even if you create the Access Team Template in the target CRM system, you can still encounter this error. This is because the sub-grid holds a reference to the Access Team Template based on its unique ID.

To fix this issue, you can simply remove the sub-grid from the form in the target CRM system and then re-create it again to reference the Access Team Template in that organisation. Note that this will need to be done every time you deploy the solution.
