One of the team members here was configuring security roles and found an entity called “Post”, we’ve never seen this before and it didn’t show up under customizations. Since we’re a curious bunch we modified the database, here’s what we found...
By default the IsCustomizable field is set to False, set this to true and you’ll see the new entities under customizations:
Follow Entity
• Has a form, and inside the form there is a lookup to Regarding, currently it allows you to select Account, Contact, Case, Lead, Opportunity, Phone Call, Task, Team, System User
Like Entity
• Has no form, it’s linked to the Post Entity
Post Entity
• Has a form, inside the form there is a multi-line text box for Text, a picklist called Source allowing you to select “Manual” or “Automatic”, it also has a Regarding lookup.
Post Role and Post Regarding Entities
• Intersect entities
• Post Role has a field called Type allowing you to select one of the following:
o Regarding, Mentioning, Mentioning and Regarding and Topic
It appears to be the social integration part of Dynamics CRM 2011; it’ll be interesting to see how these entities change as new rollups are being released.
